ABC Passes On “Judgement” Pilot

ABC has decided not to proceed with “Judgement”, which was ordered for a pilot in December 2022.

“Judgement” is a high-stakes legal soap that redefines the genre by playing out over two timelines. Fifteen years from now, a woman (Shahi) being vetted for a Supreme Court seat recounts her experience at a prominent D.C. law firm in 2023, where the only thing more controversial than the cases was her messy love life, caught between two feuding brothers. Now, with a Supreme Court seat on the line, all of her darkest secrets are at risk of coming out, threatening her nomination, her reputation and her marriage.

Sarah Shahi, Reid Scott,  François Arnaud, Portia Doubleday, Christine Adams and Ken Kirby starred in the pilot

ABC’s decision not to proceed arrives following the majority of their show selection and cancellation decisions made last month. ABC has announced a fall schedule dominated by unscripted programs due to the ongoing writers’ strike. As a result of ongoing cost-reduction efforts, Disney is exercising a high degree of selectivity when it comes to greenlighting content.

20th Television is actively exploring options to shop the project to other studios or networks, thus keeping a glimmer of hope alive for the project’s continuation.
