ABC has decided not to proceed with “The Hurt Unit,” a medical drama for which a pilot was commissioned in December 2022.
“The Hurt Unit” follows a highly skilled team of trauma surgeons and nurses who race into the field to treat the patients who won’t make it to the hospital in time. When the sick and the injured can’t get to the ER, the Hurt brings the ER to them.
ABC’s decision not to proceed arrives following the majority of their show selection and cancellation decisions made last month. ABC has announced a fall schedule dominated by unscripted programs due to the ongoing writers’ strike. As a result of ongoing cost-reduction efforts, Disney is exercising a high degree of selectivity when it comes to greenlighting content.
ABC Signature is actively seeking other platforms or channels to host the pilot, thus there’s still a chance that the show may be produced.
