Last October, a rumor was circulating that Adam Driver may have met with Marvel Studios for an unknown role in the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film. The news came from the Hot Mic podcast which reported Driver spoke with Marvel Studios about a “Fantastic Four” role. No other specific details were mentioned or what specific role Driver was in negotiations for.
In January, The Direct reported that sources close to “Fantastic Four” named Driver as Marvel Studios’ “top casting choice” to play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.
However, it has now emerged that Driver had in fact been offered the role but chose to turn it down.
On The Hot Mic podcast, Jeff Sneider cited a source from Marvel who disclosed Driver’s hesitation about accepting the role. It seems that Driver had been presented with the script quite a while ago but wasn’t able to relate to the character. Consequently, the possibility of him starring in the film was swiftly set aside.
Sneider did note the possibility of Marvel providing Driver with a revised script for the film, which is presently being developed by Josh Friedman, known for his work on ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.
Not much is known about the “Fantastic Four” reboot except characters Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing) will return. Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is confirmed to direct “Fantastic Four.
In October, it was revealed that the release date for Marvel Studios’ “Fantastic Four” film has been shifted to February 14, 2025. The movie was initially slated to premiere on November 8, 2024. However, with the writer and actor strikes still ongoing, it’s likely the movie will be delayed further.
