Last October, Walt Disney Studios announced they were working on a Hocus Pocus sequel for Disney+ and today we learned who is taking the directing reins for the new movie. Adam Shankman has reportedly signed on to direct the film. Shankman has directed many popular films including What Men Want, Hairspray and Rock of Ages.
The new Hocus Pocus movie will be written by TV writer producer Jen D’Angelo, who has previously worked on Happy Together, LA to Vegas, and Workaholics. Lynn Harris will produce the movie.
In the classic 1993 Halloween film, Bette Midler joins Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three outlandishly wild witches who return from 17th Century Salem for a night of zany fun and comic chaos.
After they’re accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters, the tricky 300-year-old trio sets out to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth but first they must outwit three feisty kids who are determined to foil their scheme!
No word yet if Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are onboard to reprise their roles, but sources say they are expected to return. All three actresses have expressed interest to return for a sequel.
The original Hocus Pocus movie is available to stream now on Disney+.
