‘Aladdin’ Spin-Off ‘Prince Anders’ Film Still In Development at Disney+

It’s been over two years since Disney announced that they were producing an Aladdin spinoff for Disney+ based on the character Prince Anders.  Billy Magnussen was confirmed to reprise his role from 2019’s live-action Aladdin in the new film.

The Prince Anders character was created exclusively for the live-action version of Aladdin and was not present in the 1992 animated movie.  The bumbling prince who asks for Jasmine’s hand early on in the film became an unexpected fan favorite and the project was quickly greenlit for production.

Details on the film have been pretty quiet since then but it appears the project is still in active development.  The news comes from Magnussen who recently gave an interview with Screen Rant and although tight-lipped about the spinoff, said the following:

“[Dramatic Laugh] Oh! That’s what I got for you. It’s coming.”

Disney is also currently working on a sequel to 2019’s live-action version of Aladdin. The film will reportedly be a theatrical release and not a Disney+ title.

You can stream the animated and live-action version of Aladdin now on Disney+.
