WGA has revealed the writers for the first seven episodes of the upcoming Disney+ Original series “Andor.”
The first three episodes have been written by Tony Gilroy who is also the series showrunner. Gilroy’s previous writing credits include The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, and The Bourne Legacy. He also handled the re-writes on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Dan Gilroy, who is Tony’s brother, wrote Episodes 4 to 6. Dan’s previous writing credits include Nightcrawler and Kong: Skull Island.
Stephen Schiff is listed as the writer of Episode 7. Schiff’s previous writing credits include The Americans, American Assassin, and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
“Andor” will release on Disney+ on August 31 with the first two episodes. Season 1 will consist of 12 episodes. The series is also confirmed to receive a second season. Season 2 will consist of 12 episodes with the final episode leading into Rogue One.
The “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller.
The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is the creator and showrunner.
American composer Nicholas Britell has been tapped to score the upcoming “Andor” series.
Season 2 of the series is scheduled to begin filming this November.
