Anji White has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming “Ironheart” Disney+ series. Deadline reports White is a series regular and is believed to be playing Rir’s mom, Ronnie.
Not much is known about the new “Ironheart” series but the show will feature Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. Marvel’s Ironheart character follows Riri Williams, a 15-year-old engineering genius attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Riri builds a suit based on Iron Man’s armor and takes up the name Ironheart. The character has appeared in some Marvel animated series including Spider-Man: Maximum Venom and Marvel Rising.
Thorne made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which is available to stream now on Disney+.
Anthony Ramos (The Heights, Hamilton) will play the show’s villain, The Hood. Lyric Ross (This Is Us) will play Williams’ best friend. Additionally, newcomer Harper Anthony, Manny Montana (Good Girls), Zoe Terakes (Nine Perfect Strangers, Wentworth), Regan Aliyah (XO, Kitty), Shakira Barrera (Sprung, GLOW), RuPaul’s Drag Race Winner, Shea Couleé, Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola (South Side), Sonia Denis, Paul Calderón (Pulp Fiction, Bosch) and Canadian-American voice actress Cree Summer have joined the cast in unknown roles.
Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) serves as head writer for the series. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes direct.
Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Chinaka Hodge will serve as executive producers alongside Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout.
Marvel’s “Ironheart” will reportedly consist of 6 episodes and will be coming to Disney+ in 2024.
Per Deadline, White is probably best known for her role as Dibrell Smutney in Season 4 of FX’s Fargo. She has also appeared in The Chi, 4400, Empire, Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. and feature film Hope Springs Eternal.
