Anne Fletcher Reportedly Returning To Direct ‘Hocus Pocus 3’

Just a few days ago, it was revealed that a third “Hocus Pocus” film is officially in development at Disney+.

The news was shared in a recent interview with the New York Times in which Walt Disney Studios President Sean Bailey said,  “Yes, Hocus Pocus 3 is happening.

Aside from the reveal, no other details like plot or casting were shared however it appears that the film’s director Anne Fletcher and writer Jen D’Angelo will be returning for the third movie.  The news comes from The Wrap which also says it’s unknown if original stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker will be back for “Hocus Pocus 3.”

The original “Hocus Pocus” film was released in 1993 and “Hocus Pocus 2” was released as a Disney+ Original last September.  The film was a huge success for the streamer and set a record for streaming minutes by a movie on Nielsen’s weekly chart.  According to Nielsen, the movie drew in more than 2.7 billion minutes of viewing from September 26 to October 2.

Disney also announced that the Disney+ Original movie “Hocus Pocus 2” was the #1 film premiere on Disney+ domestically to date, based on hours streamed in the first three days of its release.

Both “Hocus Pocus” films are available to stream now on Disney+.
