Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” releases in theaters on February 17, 2023 and early box office predictions are in.
According to Variety, the threequel is expected to collect $95 million to $100 million in North America over the traditional weekend and $110 through President’s Day on Monday. At the international box office, “Ant-Man 3” is looking to clear at least $160 million — though estimates range from $130 million to as high as $190 million.
Based on these estimates, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is predicted to earn below recent Marvel titles such as “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” ($185 million), “Thor: Love and Thunder” ($144 million) and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” ($181 million).
For comparison, 2015’s “Ant-Man” collected $57 million and 2018’s sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp” bumped to $76 million domestically and $161 million globally. The first two films ultimately ended up earning $519 million and $622 million worldwide, respectively.
In “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” Super Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.
Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O’Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.
