20th Century Studios’ “Because Of Winn-Dixie” has been removed from Disney+ in the United States.
The removal was a surprise since Disney+ does not announce which titles will leave every month like other streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu etc.
The film’s removal was due to pre-existing contracts established prior to Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. This action does not belong to the recent content removals undertaken by Disney to reduce expenditures.
The film will be available on Max for a limited period of time and will eventually return to Disney+. The movie remains available on Disney+ internationally.
Based on the perennial best seller, “Because Of Winn-Dixie” tells the story of a lonely young girl, who was abandoned by her mother when she was three, moves to a small town in Florida with her father. There, she adopts an orphaned dog she names Winn-Dixie. The bond between the girl and her special companion brings together the people in a small Florida town and heals her own troubled relationship with her father.
