Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Thunderbolts” film has added Beef creator Lee Sung Jin as a writer. The movie is set to release in theaters on July 26, 2024.
Lee will take over writing duties for Eric Pearson (Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok) who wrote the first script for the film.
Plot details for the film are under wraps however it revolves around a group of villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.
Cast previously announced for “Thunderbolts” includes David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S.Agent, Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Steven Yeun (Minari) also recently joined the cast in undisclosed roles.
Harrison Ford is also expected to reprise his role as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from Captain America: New World Order.
Jake Schreier will direct. Lee and Schreier previously worked together on Beef which will release on Netflix on April 6th. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing.
“Thunderbolts” is expected to begin filming in June.
The film hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
Lee’s previous writing credits include Tuca & Bertie, Dave and Silicon Valley. “Thunderbolts” will mark his first writing credit on a produced feature film.
