Disney has announced that the Lifetime Original movie “Betty & Coretta” will be coming to Disney+ in the United States on Friday, October 13, 2023.
The movie falls under Lifetime, which is owned by A&E Networks. Disney holds a 50% stake in this company.
The film follows the widows of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and how they carry on as single mothers after the assassination of their husbands.
“Betty & Coretta” is executive produced by Larry Sanitsky (Lifetime’s America), Mary J. Blige, Kendu Isaacs, Jaha Johnson and Polly Anthony (Archie’s Final Project). Yves Simoneau (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) was directed from a teleplay by Shem Bitterman (Halloween 5) and Ron Hutchinson (The Josephine Baker Story). Story by Ron Hutchinson and Shem Bitterman.
