Bob Iger Confirms Star Wars Disney+ Series ‘The Acolyte’ Release Window

Last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger talked at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference.  During a Q & A Session, Iger revealed that the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ series “The Acolyte” would release on the streamer in 2024.  You can see what Iger said below:

“Just last night, I got a clip of a Star Wars series that’s going to air on Disney+ in 2024 called ‘The Acolyte,’ that looks brilliant.

“The Acolyte” is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

Cast includes Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give”) Emmy Award-winner Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”), Manny Jacinto (“Nine Perfect Strangers”), Dafne Keen (“His Dark Materials”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”), Rebecca Henderson (“Inventing Anna”), Charlie Barnett (“Russian Doll”), Dean-Charles Chapman (“1917”) and Carrie-Anne Moss (“The Matrix”).

From creator, showrunner and executive producer Leslye Headland (“Russian Doll”), “The Acolyte” has begun production in the U.K. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing. Headland will also direct the series pilot.

DiscussingFilm.net reports After Yang director Kogonada and Daredevil director Alex Garcia Lopez are joining the directing team of “The Acolyte.”  Cinematographers James Friend and Chris Teague have also boarded the project.

Filming on “The Acolyte” is currently underway at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire and is expected to continue until May.

The series is expected to release on Disney+ in 2024.
