Carl Weathers Confirms ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Begins Filming Next Month

Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga in “The Mandalorian,” has confirmed Season 3 of the series will begin filming in the next month.  Weathers also revealed he will return to direct again.

During an appearance at Steel City Con, Carl Weathers said the following:

“We’re gonna start a new season of The Mandalorian in the next month. Yeah and I get to be in front of the camera again and I get to direct again. So I hope you all stay on the look out for it, watch it, support it please because I’m not just proud of my work, but I’m proud of the show and to be part of it.”

There has been some speculation if filming on Season 3 could be delayed due to Mando star Pedro Pascal’s availability.  The actor was previously committed to filming HBO’s video game adaptation The Last of Us until next summer, however, Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) recently revealed that this would not have an impact on filming the series.

“We never have to wait on Pedro,” Esposito said, noting that the title character wears a helmet a lot. Pascal potentially has the option to voice the character when he can’t be in the suit.

Following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” it was revealed that “The Book of Boba Fett” would be coming to Disney+ in December 2021.  The new stand-alone series is being described as “The Mandalorian” 2.5 and will star Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett) and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) as well as be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Robert Rodriguez.

Season 3 of “The Mandalorian” is expected to premiere on Disney+ in late 2022.
