True Detective star Carmen Ejogo is reportedly in “advanced talks” to join Marvel’s upcoming “Secret Invasion” series for Disney+. It’s not clear the exact role she was offered, but it is being described as a powerful leader with a “spy” feel from the same world as Nick Fury. Speculation seems likely that she may be a former director of SHIELD.
Ejogo played the role of Amelia Reardon in HBO’s True Detective. Other credits include playing the iconic role of Coretta Scott King in 2014’s Selma. She’s also appeared in both Fantastic Beasts movies from the Harry Potter franchise.
Plot details for the “Secret Invasion” series are being kept under wraps but the story is said to follow a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.
Previously announced cast includes Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, and Emilia Clarke. Christopher McDonald was also recently revealed to be in talks to join the cast as well.
Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot), will act as head writer and executive producer of the show. Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim have signed on to direct.
“Secret Invasion” is expected to shoot in Europe later this year and will reportedly be a six-episode event miniseries, but this has not been confirmed by Marvel.
