“Interior Chinatown” tells the story of Willis Wu (Jimmy O. Yang), a background character trapped in a police procedural who is trying to find his way into the larger story — and along the way discovers secrets about the strange world he inhabits and his family’s buried history.

Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians), Ronny Chieng, Chloe Bennet, Sullivan Jones (Atlanta),  Lisa Gilroy (Netflix’s Glamourous), Diana Lin, Archie Kaohave,  Tzi Ma and Lauren Tom (The Joy Luck Club) will also star in the project.

Maury Sterling and Spencer Neville are also joining the cast in the recurring roles of Carrey and McDonough, the original detective partners on Black & White.

Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) will direct the pilot episode and executive produce.

The series hails from 20th Television and Creator/Exec Producer Charles Yu.

Rideback, Participant and Dive are exec producing. Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, and Elsie Choi will EP for Ridgeback; Jeff Skill and Miura Kite will EP for Participant, and Garrett Basch will EP for Dive.

The 10-episode series will release on Hulu in the US, on Star+ in Latin America, and on Disney+ in all other territories.
