Disney+ has hired Channel 4 commissioner Sean Doyle to be its lead person for unscripted entertainment in Europe and Africa. He will report to Liam Keelan, VP of original productions, Europe.
Doyle will serve as director of original production for unscripted general entertainment, leading on development and production of original unscripted entertainment for the Media Networks at Disney in Europe and Africa, focusing on Disney+ and the general entertainment service.
Doyle took over Deputy Head of Features and Formats at Britain’s Channel 4 on September 11, 2018, after working on Channel 5 and previously was Head of Development for BBC Features Formats and Daytime. At Channel 5, Doyle was one of programming chief Ben Frow’s go-to commissioners, and responsible for a successful “Blind Date” reboot as well as “In Solitary: The Anti-Social Experiment” and “Celebrity In Solitary.” He also brought “The Bachelor” back to Channel 5. While working at Channel 4, Doyle worked as the deputy head of features and formats.
