Simpsons fans were delighted when Disney+ announced all 30 seasons of the series would be available to watch when the streaming service launched last November. But those same fans were quickly disappointed when it became apparent that earlier seasons of The Simpsons, were not formatted correctly.
Originally these episodes were formatted for a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio which translated to cropped scenes which then resulted in lost gags because they couldn’t be seen. Today, Disney promised they were working on the issue and the correct 4:3 format will be implemented by May. You can see that Tweet below:
We appreciate our fans’ patience and are working to make the first 19 Seasons (and part of 20) of #TheSimpsons available in 4:3 versions on #DisneyPlus. We expect to accomplish this by the end of May.
