Disney+ Reportedly Developing ‘Inside Out’ Series

Disney+ is reported developing a new series based on Pixar’s animated feature, “Inside Out.”  Last year, during the D23 Expo, Disney announced that a sequel to the film will release in theaters on June 14, 2024.

The news was shared by Puck which reports Pixar has been tasked with upping its volume of content, and one of the projects currently in development is a described big-budget series inspired by the 2015 animated film.

No other details about the series were shared.  As always, since nothing has been announced by Disney, we will treat this as a rumor for now.

Not much is known about the upcoming sequel to the animated movie. Amy Poehler was confirmed to return as Joy in “Inside Out 2”  however there was no mention if any of the other original voice actors would be returning.  Mindy Kaling who voiced Disgust in “Inside Out” confirmed she will not be returning for the sequel.

The upcoming film is directed by Kelsey Mann  (The Good Dinosaur), produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve.

In “Inside Out,” growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
