Why Was “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” Removed From Disney Plus

As part of its ongoing cost-cutting strategy, Disney removed Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding from Disney+ worldwide as of May 27.

“Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding” features surprise musical performances, unexpected appearances, captivating celebrations, and of course, lots of Disney magic. From epic hidden camera engagements to romantic fairy tale weddings, each episode will showcase enchanting stories and spectacular settings from Disney destinations around the globe.

The series goes inside the intimate plans of each couple as they celebrate their unique love stories with the help of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons.

Why Was ‘Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding’ Removed From Disney Plus?

Disney decided to remove Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding from Disney+ because of its low viewership. The company didn’t see the cost of maintaining the show as justified, particularly while it’s aiming to save $5 billion through cost-cutting measures.

Disney still bears ongoing costs to keep shows like Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding on Disney+. By eliminating certain titles, Disney can save money, as it no longer needs to make residual payments and pay licensing fees.

Additionally, removing content also opens up opportunities for Disney to establish licensing agreements for these shows with other companies, like Netflix or HBO, which could generate additional revenue.

Will Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding Come Back To Disney Plus?

Due to a content impairment charge that Disney has implemented, which serves as a write-off for tax purposes, Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding is unable to return to Disney+.

Once the impairment period ends, Disney technically has the option to reintroduce Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding to Disney+. However, given that Disney has deemed the ongoing costs of maintaining the title on Disney+ as not worthwhile, the possibility of such a return is extremely low.

Where To Watch Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding

Despite Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding being taken off Disney+, you still have alternatives, albeit at a cost.

You can now catch Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding on various digital platforms including iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and others. Currently, it seems that only the first season is up for purchase.

While Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding may be absent from Disney+, two related features, Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding Special and Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding Holiday Magic, continue to be available for streaming on the platform.

What Other Titles Have Been Removed From Disney Plus?
