This year’s Super Bowl is just around the corner, with millions around the world tuning in to watch the biggest event of the American sporting calendar. As well as football, the high-profile television commercials have become an important part of the event, with brands paying millions to secure one of the most sought after advertising spots of the year.
Super Bowl commercials are usually the place to find exclusive trailers for the biggest blockbuster films, and after the year-long global pandemic causing many studios to halt production and shift release slates, people are wondering if big money adverts are worth the investment. According to Deadline, we’re likely to see a smaller line up than in the past few years. Streaming services like HBO Max, Netflix and Apple TV may skip this year altogether. The good news is that is seems Disney is willing to take the risk. They plan to release at least two to four trailers that will be on par with previous years.
So, what can we expect to see from Disney during this year’s event?
Raya and the Last Dragon – Disney’s second Premier Access film releases on Disney + alongside cinemas next month and is a safe bet for a trailer.
Disney+ MCU shows – Last Year Disney+ got everyone excited with their first official teaser for their Disney+ slate. The short trailer featured Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. Now that we have release dates it’s likely that Disney will want to tease their 2021 Marvel Slate.
Black Widow? – Deadline doesn’t rule out a possible trailer for Black Widow, which is currently still set to release in cinemas May 7th. They do say that we shouldn’t expect any sudden announcements about a Disney+ release during the event, and that if they do end up including Black Widow, there is a chance we won’t see another delay.
What do you think? Which trailers are you hoping to see?
Super Bowl LV is scheduled to take place on February 7th 2021 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
