“Doctor Who” Season One Teaser Trailer Released

After today’s release of the Christmas special “Doctor Who: The Church on Ruby Road,” the BBC and Disney have unveiled a brand new trailer for the upcoming season of “Doctor Who.”

With Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, alongside Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, they will face new monsters as they head off in the TARDIS for many out of this world adventures.

The new season will also see an all star line up including returnees Yasmin Finney and Bonnie Langford who will reprise their roles as Rose Noble and Mel Bush. As well as introducing Jinkx Monsoon as the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet, Jonathan Groff in a mysterious key role, Indira Varma as the Duchess, and Lenny Rush as Morris, to name just a few.

Check out the teaser trailer below:

For the new season of “Doctor Who,” Disney and the BBC are resetting the series numbering. Previously, the show ran for 26 seasons from 1963 to 1989 and then for 13 seasons from 2005 to 2021. This reset is likely due to Disney not holding the rights to the older seasons.

Starting the new season as “Season 1” rather than “Season 14” helps avoid confusion and is more inviting for potential new fans who might be deterred by the prospect of starting with a higher season number.

Unfortunately, no specific release date was announced alongside the trailer. However, a timeframe was revealed, with the new series of “Doctor Who” expected to arrive in May 2024.

In the meantime, you can watch the three 60th Anniversary specials, along with the Christmas Special, on BBC iPlayer if you’re in the UK, and on Disney+ for viewers in other parts of the world.
