‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ Season 3: Renewed or Canceled?

The second season of ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ has officially debuted on Disney+ as of late March 2023.

In case you didn’t know, the show follows Lahela’s (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) first love, Walter (Alex Aiono) who returns from the World Surf Tour, but he’s not the same boyfriend she said good-bye to months before. But she’s not the same girl either. That becomes clear when she meets a bad boy on a dirt bike, Nico (Milo Manheim.) She’s faced with a decision: fight for what she knows is true, or give new love a chance. It’s all complicated by the pressures of being a teenage doctor. Luckily, she has her family, coworkers and best friend Steph (Emma Meisel) to support her along the way.

Now that season 2 has ended, the biggest question remaining is if and when we might see ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ return for season 3? Read on for everything we know about season 3!

Has ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ Been Renewed For Season 3?

Official Renewal Status: Pending / Not Yet Renewed
Our Renewal Prediction: Likely Canceled

Disney hasn’t officially confirmed whether ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ will be returning for season 3, but we think the show has likely been canceled. However, this will ultimately come down to how season two performs.

For the first season of ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’, Disney released episodes weekly, and for the second season, all episodes were released on the same day. It’s assumed that the show might have struggled with the weekly model, and Disney is hoping that the “binge” release will help increase engagement for the second season.

That said, other Disney+ shows that have switched from weekly to “binge”, such as Diary of a Future President, Big Shot and more, were cancelled. It does seem that Disney makes this change to see if the demand is there for the show, and if it isn’t, it’ll be cancelled.

Disney’s announcement of show renewals lacks a predictable pattern. Renewals can happen before the newest season airs, during the finale episode, or take months to be announced.

That said, Disney announced that ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ would return for a second season about 3 months after the finale episode in season 1. If we don’t hear news about season 3 before the end of Summer, the show will likely be canceled.

We’ll be sure to update this article once Disney has confirmed further news about ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ Season 3.

‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ Season 3 Release Date

As Disney hasn’t confirmed if ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ will return for season 3, no official release date has been announced. However, we can certainly make an educated guess based on the previous two seasons.

The wait between season 1 and season 2 of ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.‘ was 1 year and 4 months. This means we expect that season 3 will follow a similar pattern if the show is renewed, with an estimated release date of mid-2024.

We’ll be sure to update this article when we hear some official news on whether ‘Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.’ will return for a third season.

What Do The Fans Want?

  1. I love the Disney + as well as Doogie kamealoha MD. It is a sweet & decent show. I would love to see how her career took off on the road with helping people. Also I would love to know about her mom being pregnant & would like know the gender of the baby. Also how the two brothers are growing up for Season 3. Please renew for Season3 ASAP.

    • It’s a little corny and unrealistic with her driving by herself with all that equipment. Even paramedics have partners and doctors need nurses and it’s a safety concern for her and the patients. But this season was fun and had some beautiful story arcs and lines. Nico had great ones about her being the sun after the dark cloud, reminded me of Greys Anatomy Sandra Oh farewell lines between her and Meredith as did the falling in love with possibly dying patient like Izzie and Denny. Anyhow loved Kai this season and showcasing singing and dancing of the cast in unusual ways. Felt like that might mean it jumped the shark or went big in case it goes off the air but made it more fun than season 1 imho. I don’t like hearing the 13 y.o. BP using cuss words tbh. I would like them to stop that. I understand Kai is about to go to college and Lahela is in adult role as a doctor but that’s not good parenting to let BP say cuss words in school. Sorry Disney that’s necessary considering the dancing down the hall and ballroom Beauty and Beast, etc…not like you are going for realism anyhow. Please give us one more season and bring back both guys. Milo and Peyton have great timing and she and guy that plays Walter have such great energy and seem like childhood sweethearts. Just want her to tell Nico to get some counseling for his CPTSD as a cancer kid! Can’t believe that didn’t take that seriously in wake of COVID to push mental health awareness!! Also, please stop all the super tight clothes on Lahela, she’s a career lady and good girl. She doesn’t need to wear so many strapless bras IRL. It feels exploitative at this point.

  2. I loved the 2nd season so much and watched it like 5 times on the 31st when it came out. I was very surprised at the end when she chose herself instead of boys and that is true girl power. And WHAT!? Her mom is pregnant?! I was really excited about that and would like to get to know how everybody else is going to react to that. I really would love another add on to this beautiful story.

  4. I love watching the family dynamic. It is fun, beautiful, and very much works. Please bring the show back. I love the look into different areas in Hawaii, the culture, and the diversity of the show. Looking into each specialty shines a good light in doctor positions. And we gotta see where she goes with relationships. Thought Nico’s back story was heart warming. Older mom like me! 3rd season needed.

  5. Compared to other shows out there. Doogie Kamealoha M.D. is clean family viewing. There’s that sweet innocence about it. It’s entertaining, funny, cute and intriguing. Nice for pre-teens and teens. Not many shows like that anymore. It would be awesome if it got renewed for further seasons. There’s still lots they can do with the story lines and characters. Renew!!!!!

  7. I just got done binging season two of Doogie Kamealoha MD. I really liked it and enjoyed the message at the end where Lahela decides to follow her career goals and let romance wait a bit.

I really like Peyton Elizabeth Lee in all of her performances. She is so expressive and such a good actress. I look forward to her getting more adult roles as she matures.

I did want to add one thought. The timing of seasons and one and two were affected by Covid and though Covid is still very much with us it has become enough of an endemic that I do not think it will effect any possible season three timing like it did for season two.

That being said I hope to hear that a third season has been approved and look forward to the continuing story of Lehala “Doogie” Kamealoha M.D.

Best wishes to Peyton Elizabeth Lee. She is an amazing actress. Best wishes to all the actors on the show as they have become dear to me in a very short time.

  10. There is going to be a renewal guaranteed because Lahela’s mom is pregnant, and what kind of crazy people would leave a cliffhanger like that!

  11. I need there to be a season 3 for two reasons one she needs to pick a man and there’s a baby now so I need a name and a gender! Also I’m team Nico, I mean he so kind to her Lahala also I will be very mad if she chooses Walter over Nico because Walter was so rude to her at the beginning of season 2.

  12. Seriously need season 3 of Doogie Khamaloha. It’s a great show. Don’t like cliffhangers. There’s alot more to tell of her story then you got her best friend stephs story. I want to know who she picks. Bad boy nico or the surfer boy Walter who broke her heart.

  14. I would love to hear the story behind Dr. Lee and Donna’s kiss lol! The meatball in her hair was hysterical and Donna is a great new cast member, love to see more of her. Also I love Dr. Lee – he’s so funny and can’t wait to see how his relationship with with Lailani plays out and more focus on hospital drama. This season 2 was absolutely amazing – please renew!! We need more shows like this!

  15. This is a very cute show. That being said, I can sum up in three words my biggest reason for wanting it to continue – Jason Scott Lee. (Yeah – my age is showing 🤣). I have enjoyed Mr. Lee since my first intoduction to his work in Disney’s 1994 live action Jungle Book where he plays Mowgli opposite Lena Heady’s (Game of Thrones) Kitty.

I love Mr. Lee’s character in Doogie Kamealiha,, MD as Lahela’s dad, Benny. His actions are well written and fun to watch. He has made me both laugh and cry due to his dad humor, dad/daughter affection and because of his love for the Hawaiian culture he grew up in.

Yes, I would definitely like a season three to see more Jason Scott Lee. The role of Benny suits him well.

  17. Love the show and storylines, teen puberty confusion great to know she doesn’t have her whole life figured out. Good family show. Wish the seasons weren’t so short. Sorry to hear Disney cancelled some of the other shows but it’s hard to know what people will like.

  18. I like this show. Walter had been very supportive of Dougie’s career until he was overwhelmed by the success that was pushed upon him
He wasn’t aware of it’s negative impact until they broke up.
I want another season to let the triangle relationship become unraveled. Walter is her best bet for a long term relationship.

  19. Ok, I am 65, clearly not someone you would think of watching this show! But I love it. Many good hearted laughing moments and many heart felt crying moments. Just an all around great family tv show. I hope they keep it going, not much reaches to the entire family anymore. 💜

  22. Loved S2 & REALLY want a S3! There’s a LOT of us Disney fans – of all ages – who want you to continue with your great original Disney content. I could care less about Star Wars & Marvel. I watch for the heart warming, funny, inspirational, and family content. Yet, you keep canceling every show. I’m losing reasons to subscribe!

  23. ok so… i need there to be a season 3 because first of all her mom is prego and i have to know how that goes and how lahela deals with it. second of all i hated the way season 2 ended with her not choosing either nico or walter. yes i get like girl power and stuff but you can be strong and independent with someone you love. also i’m really mad that there was even any competition between nico and walter because walter was terrible to her and doesn’t deserve lahela. they made me hate him and now they are trying to make him all cute and sweet again. that’s a big no from me. how can she just forgive and forget!! nico is such a great guy and he’s absolutely perfect for lahela!also really want to see where Stai goes! i love their relationship and i want more!!! also want to see how lahelas specialty goes and how bp grows up. so ya season 3 asap. i will hate you forever if you don’t. i will also hate you forever if she chooses walter over nico. nico all the way

  24. I loved watching it a nd her life as a teen doc. It is annoying that Walter didn’t just leave her alone to be with Nico.THERE HAS TO BE A SEASON 3 ! I think she should be with Nico as well, he was so nice to her. I WILL HATE DISNEY IF THERE ISN’T A SEASON 3 ANYTIME SOON AND NOT IN A YEAR AND A HALF!
