Last September, it was reported that Bassam Tariq had exited as director of Marvel Studios’ “Blade.” Production on the project in Atlanta subsequently was delayed as the studio searched for a new director.
According to a new report, a director may have been found. The news comes from The Cosmic Circus which believes that Elegance Bratton has been tapped to helm the project. Per TCC, Bratton’s upcoming work includes a semi-autobiographical film he has written and directed, which releases on November 18, 2022, titled The Inspection.
As always, since nothing has been confirmed by Marvel or Disney, we will treat this as a rumor for now.
Mahershala Ali will play the iconic vampire hunter. Delroy Lindo (The Harder They Fall, Da 5 Bloods) and Aaron Pierre (M. Night Shyamalan’s Old) also star. Additionally, Milan Ray (The Wonder Years) has recently joined the cast along with Anthony Starr (The Boys) who will reportedly play the villain.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour writes the script and Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige is producing.
Marvel’s “Blade” is currently scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
