Everything Marvel Studios Coming To Disney+ In 2023

2022 was a massive year for Marvel fans, with Moon Knight kicking things off in late March. Ms. MarvelI am Groot and She-Hulk being released over the Summer, followed by Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special closing out the year.

With Phase 4 now in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to turn our attention to 2023 and Phase 5.

In 2023, expect to see plenty of movies, series and specials directly on Disney+.


Marvel Studios New Movies & Shows In 2023

This list is subject to change, and it’s likely additional content will be announced throughout the year such as specials, documentaries, and more.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

In the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of Talokan, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli.

Release Date: As the movie was released in late 2022, we’re expecting to see ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ arrive on Disney+ in early 2023.


In the film, which officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors joins the adventure as Kang.

Release Date: The movie will be released in theaters on February 17, 2023. We expect to see the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on Disney+ sometime in May or April 2023.


Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in Captain Marvel. The crossover comic event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

Release Date: ‘Secret Invasion’ will be coming to Disney+ in Spring 2023.


Marvel’s animated series “What If…?” premiered on Disney+ summer 2021 and was an instant hit with fans.  The series flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways. The show was nominated for three Emmy’s and renewed for a second and third season.

Release Date: It’s expected that ‘What If…?’ season 2 will arrive on Disney+ in early 2023.


Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team around him to defend the universe and protect one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Release Date: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in theaters on May 05, 2023. We expect to see the movie arrive on Disney+ in June or July.


Loki Season 2

Plot details for the second season are being kept under wraps. Eric Martin will serve as writer for all six episodes.  Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have been tapped to co-direct a majority of the episodes for “Loki” Season 2.  Hiddleston and Michael Waldron, who wrote and served as showrunners in Season 1, will executive produce Season 2.

Release Date: Loki season 2 will be coming to Disney+ in Summer 2023, most likely after Secret Invasion.


Echo

Streaming exclusively on Disney+, the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’onofrio will reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin respectively in Marvel’s upcoming new series.

Release Date: Marvel’s upcoming “Echo” series for Disney+ was slated to premiere in Summer 2023 on Disney+, however according to a new report, the release of the series could potentially be delayed. We’ll need to wait for Marvel to provide further details on this one.


The Marvels

“The Marvels” will see the return of Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and will also feature appearances from Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Zawe Ashton in a currently unknown role, as well as WandaVision star Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau.

Release Date: “The Marvels” will open in theaters on July 28, 2023. We expect to see the movie arrive on Disney+ in September or October.


Ironheart

Not much is known about the new “Ironheart” series but the show will feature Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. Marvel’s Ironheart character follows Riri Williams, a 15-year-old engineering genius attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Riri builds a suit based on Iron Man’s armor and takes up the name Ironheart. The character has appeared in some Marvel animated series including Spider-Man: Maximum Venom and Marvel Rising.

Release Date: “Ironheart” will be coming to Disney+ in Fall 2023.


X-Men ’97

The animated series will explore new stories in the iconic 90s timeline of the original series featuring beloved characters like Professor X, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Rogue, Storm, Gambit, Magneto, and more.

F the voice talents of original X-Men: The Animated Series cast members including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith, Chris Potter, Catherine Disher, Adrian Hough, and Christopher Britton, some cast members of “X-Men ‘97” will reprise their original roles, with others voicing entirely brand-new parts.

Release Date: X-Men ‘97 will be coming to Disney+ in Fall 2023.


Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Not many other details are known about the project however a fellow WandaVision star will reportedly be returning for the series.  Emma Caulfield, who played Sarah Proctor, aka Dottie Jones has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming series.   Joe Locke will reportedly star as a villain in the series and Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Sasheer Zamata(Saturday Night Live), and Eric André have been cast in unknown roles.  Additionally, Ali Ahn (Raising Dion) and Maria Dizzia (The Staircase) will reportedly play witches in the upcoming series.

Release Date: Marvel confirmed that ‘Agatha:Coven of Chaos’ will be coming in Winter 2023/2024. So, it’s possible we might not see this until early 2024.
