Everything Removed from Disney+ in April 2023 (US)

The beginning of the month will often see Disney remove certain titles from Disney+ due to existing contracts. April 2023 will continue that trend as nine titles have been removed from Disney+ in the United States so far.

The removals came as a bit of a surprise since Disney+ does not announce which titles will be leaving every month like other streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.

All of the titles below are expected to return to Disney+ after pre-existing streaming contracts expire.

Like Mike

Fourteen year old, hoops-loving Calvin Cambridge (Lil’ Bow Wow) has a dream: to be a famous basketball player — to mix it up among the NBA’s greatest. But in a game dominated by giants with unparalleled athletic abilities, Calvin’s diminutive stature and limited skills, make this a far-off fantasy. Or is it? After he laces up a mysterious pair of old sneakers inscribed with the faded initials MJ, Calvin makes the leap from playground hijinks to NBA superstardom…

The movie was removed due to pre-existing contracts created before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. The movie is now available on Starz and is expected to return to Disney+ once licensing agreements have ended. However, no return date has been announced.

X2: X-Men United

Stryker (Brian Cox), a villianous former Army commander, holds the key to Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) past and the future of the X-Men. This threat re-ignites the call for a mutant registration act. Stryker starts a full-out assault on Professor Xavier’s (Patrick Stewart) mansion and school. After escaping his plastic cell, Magneto (Ian McKellen) proposes a partnership with Xavier and the X-Men to combat this new formidable enemy they both have in common.

When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother (Catherine O’Hara) makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. Strangest Bird Alive

The ostriches of Namibia face an annual challenge: choosing exactly the right moment to breed. The birds must ensure their clutches hatch around the time of the rains. If the timing is wrong, food will be scarce and the chicks will die. If it’s right, then a new generation gets the chance of a life on the run.

The Sound Of Music

A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.

The movie has been removed from Disney+ globally and it’s unknown when or if the title will return.

Oklahoma!

There’s a box social coming up, and Curly (Gordon MacRae) asks Laurey (Shirley Jones) if she’ll be his date. Trouble is, Laurey thinks he’s waited too long, and in a fit of pique accepts an offer from the boorish Jud (Rod Steiger) instead. Meanwhile, Laurey’s friend Ado Annie (Gloria Grahame) is also torn between two men: a cowboy named Will (Gene Nelson) and a foreign peddler, Ali Hakim (Eddie Albert).
