Filming Delayed and New Details Reportedly Revealed For ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Disney+ Series

Disney+’s new live-action Star Wars series The Acolyte was to reportedly begin production in February of next year however it looks that filming has been delayed by several months.  According to The Illuminerdi, shooting on the series has now shifted from February to Summer 2022.

The Acolyte has been described as a female-driven, action mystery thriller, with martial art elements that will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging Dark Side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era.  The series will reportedly take place in a different part of the Star Wars timeline than other projects.

Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is serving as the show’s showrunner.

The Illuminerdi also states they have discovered new details about the project including the working title name which is “Paradox.”  Working titles are given to shows in production and can sometimes reveal a clue about the show, or sometimes a random word is used and there is no connection to the show at all.

Casting for the series is currently underway and we already knew that Lucasfilm was looking to cast a woman of color in her late teens to early twenties to play the lead role.  The Illuminerdi claims their sources have revealed that the lead in The Acolyte will be named Aura.

A director has not been attached to the project yet however there were some rumblings that Lucasfilm is eyeing Kevin Smith to direct at least one episode of the series.

A release date for Star Wars: The Acolyte has not been set yet.
