FX’s ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’ Will Feature Theme by Thomas Newman and Score by Julia Newman

Emmy winner and 15-time Oscar nominee Thomas Newman has written the theme and his daughter Julia Newman has composed the score for FX’s “Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans” which will premiere on January 31, 2024, on FX and stream the next day on Hulu.  The series will also be coming to Disney+ in many countries however a release date for other regions has not been announced yet.

Thomas Newman has previously worked on American BeautyThe Shawshank RedemptionFinding NemoSkyfall, and 1917.  Composing the entire eight-hour mini-series will be the first major outing for Julia who has previously worked on short films, documentaries, games and web series.

A soundtrack album for the show will be released by Hollywood Records at a later date.

The second season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series is based on the book “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era” by Laurence Leamer.

FX’s “FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans” tells the story of acclaimed writer Truman Capote, once a confidante to society’s most elite women, whom he nicknamed “the swans.” However, his act of betrayal effectively destroyed those relationships, banished him from high society and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.

The series stars Naomi Watts as Babe Paley, Tom Hollander as Truman Capote, Diane Lane as Slim Keith, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest, Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, Demi Moore as Ann Woodward, Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson and Treat Williams as Bill Paley.

The eight-episode season is directed by two-time Oscar nominee Gus Van Sant.  Jon Robin Baitz serves as writer and showrunner.

Baitz, Van Sant and Watts are executive producing Feud: Capote’s Women alongside Murphy, Plan B’s Dede Gardner, Tim Minear, and Alexis Martin Woodall, who all executive produced/produced Season 1, Feud: Bette and Joan. 20th Television is the studio, producing with Plan B Entertainment and Ryan Murphy Productions.
