FX’s ‘The Patient’ Limited Series Sets Hulu Premiere Date

FX has announced that the limited series “The Patient” will premiere on Hulu in the United States on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.  The series is also expected to release on  Disney+ internationally however a release date for these regions has not been announced yet.

The announcement was made on social media which you can see below:

The series hails from The Americans co-creators Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields who also write and executive produce the series.

“The Patient” stars Domhnall Gleeson and Steve Carell who will also executive produce.  Linda Emond (Succession, The Gilded Age), Laura Niemi (This Is Us, Justified), Andrew Leeds (The Dropout, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), David Alan Grier and Alex Rich also star.

The show consists of ten half-hour episodes and is described as a psychological thriller about psychotherapist Alexander Strauss (Carell), who finds himself held prisoner by a serial killer with an unusual request: curb his homicidal urges. But unwinding the mind of this man while also dealing with the waves of his own repressed troubles creates a journey perhaps as treacherous as his captivity.

Chris Long (The Americans, Suspicion) has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the series and will also exec produce.  Kevin Bray (Succession, Insecure, The Americans, Run) and Gwyneth Horder-Payton (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Pose, Pam & Tommy) will also be directing the series.

Fields and Weisberg executive produce along with Carell, Caroline Moore, Victor Hsu and Long.

The show is produced by FX Productions.
