FX’s ‘The Patient’ | Therapist Or Prisoner? Teaser

FX has released a new “Therapist or Prisoner?” teaser for FX’s upcoming series “The Patient” starring Steve Carell.   The first two episodes of the series will premiere on Hulu on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday afterward.  The series will also premiere on Disney+ in Canada on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.    The show is expected to release on  Disney+ internationally however a release date for these regions has not been announced yet.

Featuring Steve Carell as therapist “Alan Strauss,” The Patient is a psychological thriller about a therapist who is held prisoner by patient Sam Fortner who reveals himself to be a serial killer. With time running out, Alan fights desperately to stop Sam before Alan becomes complicit in Sam’s murders or worse – becomes a target himself.

The series hails from The Americans co-creators Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields who also write and executive produce the series.  Barr has also previously collaborated with the creators/producers on FX’s The Americans.

The show consists of ten half-hour episodes and stars Domhnall Gleeson, Linda Emond (Succession, The Gilded Age), Laura Niemi (This Is Us, Justified), Andrew Leeds (The Dropout, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), David Alan Grier and Alex Rich.

Chris Long (The Americans, Suspicion) directs the first two episodes of the series and also exec produces.  Kevin Bray (Succession, Insecure, The Americans, Run) and Gwyneth Horder-Payton (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Pose, Pam & Tommy) also direct the series.

Fields and Weisberg executive produce along with Carell, Caroline Moore, Victor Hsu and Long.

The show is produced by FX Productions.
