FX is currently working on an “Alien” TV series that will reportedly begin shooting this year.
According to The Ronin, Production Designer Andy Nicholson has boarded the project. Nicholson has previously worked on Gravity, Captain Marvel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Assassin’s Creed.
The project was first announced during Disney’s Investor Day presentation in 2020 and will be the first television series based on one of the greatest science fiction horror classics ever made: “Alien.” The series will release on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally under the Star banner.
“Alien” will be helmed by Fargo and Legion’s Noah Hawley and Ridley Scott will produce the series via his Scott Free banner.
The series will be the first Alien story set on Earth and will blend the horror of the original 1979 movie and the action of the 1986 James Cameron-directed sequel, Aliens. The “Alien” series will take place before Weaver’s Ripley character appears and she will not be part of the show, as will none of the characters apart from the alien itself.
A release date for the series has not been announced yet.
20th Century Studios is also working on a new Alien movie with the working title “Alien: Romulus.”
In the new film, the iconic ferocious race of alien beings called Xenomorphs will be front and center, again reigning terror against the humans that cross their paths.
Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe) is directing the project with Scott Free producing.
Last November, it was reported that Cailee Spaeny (How It Ends) was reportedly in talks to star in 20th Century Studios’ new Alien movie.
A release date for the film has not been announced yet.
