Last year, Disney+ announced the development of a 10-episode live-action “Goosebumps” series, inspired by R.L. Stine’s well-known books.
The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.
So far, little has come out about the series, but it’s believed that filming took place between October, 2022 through March 31, under the working title “Port Lawrence ’93.”
According to Deadline, the “Goosebumps” series, produced by Sony Television Pictures and intended as a Disney+ Original, may also be available for streaming on Hulu.
Sharing original titles between Disney+ and Hulu, including liner TV, isn’t a new practice, but this is the first time we’re hearing about the “Goosebumps” series potentially being available on both platforms.
Before year’s end, Hulu content is set to become directly accessible through Disney+, in anticipation of a future complete merger. This practice of sharing content not only prepares subscribers for this integration but also allows Disney to expose the show to a broader audience across both platforms. Additionally, distributing the show on both Disney+ and Hulu could enable Disney to allocate the production costs across various divisions within the company.
Previously announced cast members include Ana Yi Puig, Miles McKenna, Rob Huebel, Will Price, Zack Morris, Rachael Harris, and Isa Briones as well as Justin Long.
While there’s no confirmed release date for “Goosebumps,” it’s widely anticipated to premiere around the Halloween season. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Very interesting article. Looking forward to Goosebumps. Regarding the Hulu content being available on Disney plus. Is that only for USA? Or will it be for viewers in the UK too?
Thank you
Hulu content will not be available on Disney+ outside the United States. The majority of titles from Hulu are already available on Disney+ internationally.
This is gonna be good.
