Greta Gerwig To Write Disney’s Live-Action ‘Snow White’ Film

Academy Award nominee Greta Gerwig is reportedly set to write the script for Disney’s live-action “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” film.  According to The DisInsider, Gerwig has already written the most recent draft of the movie.

Rachel Zegler has been cast to play Snow White in the adaptation and Gal Gadot will star as the Evil Queen.

Insiders say the live-action film will expand upon the story and music from the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs animated movie which was released in 1937.  Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen) will write new songs for the movie.

Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) will direct the movie.  Marc Platt (Mary Poppins Returns, La La Land) is producing.

Gerwig is best known for writing the 2019 adaptation of Little Women, which she also directed.

Filming for Disney’s live-action “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” movie is set to begin in March of next year in the UK under the working title “Merry.”  A release date for the film has not been announced yet.
