“grown-ish” has been renewed for a sixth season at Freeform. In addition to the renewal, it was also announced that Craig Doyle will take over as showrunner on the new season.
The ‘Black-ish’ spinoff is Freeform’s longest-running current series. The news was announced during Freeform’s time at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Wednesday.
Season 5 of “grown-ish” returns to Freeform for its second half on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 p.m. and streams on Hulu.
In Season 5, Zoey is back at Cal U and ready to focus on her relationship with Aaron.
From black-ish executive producer, Kenya Barris, comes a contemporary take on the current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education. Yara Shahidi portrays Zoey – Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) popular, entitled, stylish and socially active 17-year-old daughter — as she heads off to college and quickly discovers that not everything goes her way once she leaves the nest.
The series stars Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons, and Daniella Perkins and is produced by ABC Signature. Kenya Barris, Zakiyyah Alexander, Courtney Lilly, Craig Doyle, Yara Shahidi, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland, E. Brian Dobbins and Michael Petok serve as executive producers. Alexander and Lilly also serve as co-showrunners.
Previous seasons of “grown-ish” are available to stream now on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in many countries including the US, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Canada.
