Harrison Ford Confirmed To Play Thunderbolt Ross in ‘Captain America: New World Order’

Last week,  a new rumor suggested that Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones, Star Wars) could join the MCU as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross replacing the late William Hurt.

Today, Variety has confirmed those rumors by saying Ford will play General Thaddeus ”Thunderbolt” Ross in Marvel’s ”Captain America: New World Order” which is set to release in theaters on May 3, 2024.

Variety also reports that it does not appear, however, that Ford is set to star in “Thunderbolts,” Marvel’s anti-hero team-up film that is scheduled to immediately follow “Captain America 4.”

Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly will return to their roles “Captain America: New World Order” from the Disney+ Original series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Additionally, Tim Blake Nelson joins the cast as Dr. Samuel Sterns, reprising his role from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox and Luce)  has been officially announced as director of the project.

Malcolm Spellman, head writer and show creator for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, will return to write the script for Captain America 4.

Onah recently revealed that the film is on track for a Spring 2023 start of production.

“Captain America: New World Order” releases in theaters on May 3, 2024.
