Harrison Ford Rumored To Play Thunderbolt Ross in ‘Captain America: New World Order’

Last month, a new rumor suggested that Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones, Star Wars) could join the MCU in Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts” film which will hit theaters on July 26, 2024.

The rumor was reported by movie scooper Jeff Sneider, who said Ford “either is or was the studio’s top choice to star in Thunderbolts as the General himself.  According to the rumor, Ford would be recast to play Thunderbolt Ross who was previously portrayed by the late William Hurt.

More recently, a new rumor suggests that Ford has joined the cast of “Captain America: New World Order” as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.  The news comes again from The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider on  The Hot Mic Podcast  who said Ford has signed on to join the MCU and will his debut in Captain America: New World Order.  Sneider goes on to say that while Ross may show up in Captain America 4, his appearance in “Thunderbolts” may not be as certain as had previously been thought.

As always, since nothing has been confirmed by Marvel or Disney, we will treat this as a rumor for now.

Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly will return to their roles “Captain America: New World Order” from the Disney+ Original series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Additionally, Tim Blake Nelson joins the cast as Dr. Samuel Sterns, reprising his role from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox and Luce)  has been officially announced as director of the project.

Malcolm Spellman, head writer and show creator for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, will return to write the script for Captain America 4.

Onah recently revealed that the film is on track for a Spring 2023 start of production.

“Captain America: New World Order” releases in theaters on May 3, 2024.
