‘Hawkeye’ Cinematographer Boards ‘Ahsoka’ Disney+ Series

According to a new report, two cinematographers have boarded the upcoming “Ahsoka” Disney+ series.

The news comes from OttoNemenz.com which reports that Eric Steelberg and Quyen Tran have joined the project.

According to ComicBook.com, Steelberg most recently worked on Marvel’s Hawkeye series on Disney+. Other credits include working as the Director of Photography for Juno500 Days of SummerUp in the Air, Yong AdultDolemite Is My NameA Quiet Place, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Steelberg’s television credits include Eastbound & DownThe Good DoctorBillions, and more. Tran’s film credits include serving as the Director of Photography on The Little HoursPalm Springs, and Wildflower. His television credits include A TeacherMaidMinxRoar, and more.

Rosario Dawson will be reprising her role as Ahsoka in the limited series who we last saw in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and in Chapter 6 of The Book of Boba Fett. Reports have confirmed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will portray Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Kate, Birds of Prey) has reportedly been cast as Hera Syndulla and Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim: Uprising) will play a new character Shin.  Additionally, Ray Stevenson (Vikings) joined the cast.  THR reports that “he is a villain in the series and will play an admiral … although, not Thrawn.”  Eman Esfandi (King Richard) was recently announced to play Ezra Bridger in the series.

Insider Daniel Richtman previously revealed the following logline and synopsis for the series:

In “Ahsoka” Tano (Rosario Dawson) is on the hunt for the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn in the hope it will help her locate the missing Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi that disappeared with Thrawn many years ago. Based on characters from the “Star Wars” franchise. A spinoff of the TV series “The Mandalorian.”

Peter Ramsey will reportedly direct at least one episode of Disney+’s upcoming “Ahsoka” series.  Ramsey is the first Black filmmaker to win the animated feature Oscar as co-director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Dave Filoni is attached to write the show and is exec producing with Jon Favreau.

“Ahsoka” is slated to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023, however, Disney or Lucasfilm have not announced an exact release date yet.
