Last month, it was revealed that a third “Hocus Pocus” film is officially in development at Disney+.  The news was shared in an interview with the New York Times in which Walt Disney Studios President Sean Bailey said,  “Yes, Hocus Pocus 3 is happening.” Read on below for everything we know about “Hocus Pocus 3.”
When is “Hocus Pocus 3” Coming Out?
A release date for “Hocus Pocus 3” has not been announced yet.
Filming for Hocus Pocus 2 began in October 2021 and was released on Disney+ in September 2022.
The good news is that Disney usually releases these movies within about 12 months as they’re quick to produce. However, since no one has mentioned the start of filming and Hollywood remains shut down because of the strikes, Hocus Pocus 3 probably won’t hit screens until fall 2025.
If the strike concludes in fall 2023 and Disney begins production right away, the movie might still debut in fall 2024. But that scenario seems unlikely right now.
It’s also unclear if the threequel is intended for Disney+ or a theatrical release. Hocus Pocus 2 was a huge success for the streamer and set a record for streaming minutes by a movie on Nielsen’s weekly chart. According to Nielsen, the movie drew in more than 2.7 billion minutes of viewing from September 26 to October 2. Given the sequel’s success, the studio may want to move the third film to a theatrical release.

The cast for “Hocus Pocus 3” has not been confirmed yet however it is safe to assume that Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker are likely to return. All three have expressed interest in reprising their roles.
Who will Direct, Write, and Produce “Hocus Pocus 3”
While nothing has been confirmed, it appears that the film’s director Anne Fletcher and writer Jen D’Angelo will be returning for the third movie. The news comes from The Wrap.
