It’s been a few months since the last episode of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Season 3 came out, and fans still refuse to let the series go. Thankfully, Disney confirmed the return of Season 4 even before Season 3 arrived.
And now, as we almost approach the middle of the year, many are left wondering when Season 4 will be coming out. Here’s what we know about ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Season 4 and what we can expect in the series.
Will There Be Season 4 of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’?
Fortunately, yes! Disney confirmed in September last year that the majority of the cast members would return for season 4. This includes all the lead casts from season 3, Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, Julia Lester, Dara Renée, Frankie Rodriguez, and Kate Reinders.
At Disney’s D23 Expo, the casts and crews of the series also announced that the actual ‘High School Musical’ movie cast will also participate in filming season 4.
With this news, we can expect all our favorite characters to interact with more of the movie alums, joining previous returnees like Kaycee Stroh, Lucas Grabeel, and Corbin Bleu.
‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Season 4 Release Date
There’s so much anticipation for the new season, but when will it come out?
So far, Disney is yet to reveal any information about the release date of the new season. However, we can estimate it based on the release date of previous seasons.
The show’s second season was released in May 2021, and the third was in July 2022. Following this pattern, we can predict the possibility of season 4 being released around July-August this year.
It’s also confirmed that filming has already begun, and the production has been officially underway since September, so the first episode of season 4 may come out this summer.
What Do We Know About ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 4?
The crew spilled some details about the fourth season’s premise at Disney’s D23 Expo. By the end of season 3, East High’s soon-to-be-graduates were expecting to put on their production of ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’.
However, there will be a twist because they later discover that East High is again being used as a film set, this time for ‘High School Musical 4: The Reunion’, and they will all be movie extras.
With this premise, fans can expect to see a lot of ‘High School Musical’ original music featured in the series, as Disney+ has confirmed.
We also already got a hint that the new season will feature more of the original movie alums. Many hope it will include Zac Efron, especially after he showed his interest in joining the cast in May last year.
Last year, both Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens posted a picture of their visit to East High on Instagram. Fans considered it a bit coincidental that they both had visited East High.
This increases the anticipation of the two joining the other alums in season 4. However, whether the two will make a surprise appearance in the newest season is still unknown.
