Hulu Executives Teases More Mature Marvel Shows Could Be Coming

Jordan Helman, head of Hulu scripted content, is hoping that Marvel Studios and the streamer can work together to bring more mature Marvel content to subscribers.

“Marvel continues to be an incredibly important partner and one of the biggest generators of content within the Disney ecosystem so we’re excited about the possibility of what may lie in the future with regards to the Hulu/Marvel relationship,” Helman told Deadline on Friday.

Helman went on to clarify that Hulu hasn’t spoken with Marvel Studios or CEO Kevin Feige, but Hulu still plans to get some MCU content as “it seems like an incredibly robust avenue for future projects.”

Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. was a huge hit with adult audiences although fans are still waiting for confirmation of a second season. The streamer is hoping to have additional success with its upcoming animated show Marvel’s Hit Monkey which follows an angry Japanese snow monkey as he tries to combat the Tokyo underworld with the ghost of an American assassin helping him along the way.

Hulu previously had plans to expand its horizons with a group of adult-oriented shows, including Marvel’s Howard the Duck and Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler however those projects were eventually shelved. Another Marvel series, Helstrom was canceled after only one season.

Disney+ has seen massive success with its previously launched Marvel series like WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki and has a pipeline of plenty more projects to come.  It would make sense for the Disney-owned streaming platform to get in on some of that success.

Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is now streaming on Hulu in the United States and on Star on Disney+ in several international markets.  A release date for Hit Monkey has not been announced yet.
