Jennifer Lee Hints at Disney’s ‘Frozen 4’

Last February, Disney confirmed that “Frozen 3” was in development, and earlier this month Disney CEO Bob Iger teased a “Frozen 4” film is in development as well.

While Speaking to Good Morning America, Iger said the following:

“Well, I’ll give you a little surprise there, Michael. ‘Frozen 3’ is in the works and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works too.  But I don’t have much to say about those films right now.  But Jenn Lee, who created ‘Frozen,’ the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen II,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”

Recently Lee also teased a fourth Frozen film

“Only what we have already shared, which is the team is hard at work, we are deeply excited about the story we are shaping together, and it’s so epic it may not fit into just one film,” Lee said in an interview.

The official cast for the threequel has not been announced yet but Josh Gad, who voices fun-loving Olaf, has showed his excitement to return through a post on his social media account. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who wrote all the memorable songs in the Frozen films will return once again as songwriters.

Lee wrote and co-directed the first two Frozen movies and although it seems she will not return to direct the third installment, she is still heavily involved with the project.

In a recent interview with The Wrap, Lee revealed:

“I can’t say where we are [with “Frozen 3.” All our stories are driven by the artists in the studio. Where we’re going with ‘Frozen’ did not come from me. It came from an incredible person. That’s a new piece; I’ve told no one. And I’ve been blown away by it, and I’m just having a blast with that team.”

Lee did share that she will still be involved with the project as an advisor:

“I’m doing what I do with all the other projects. It’s really fun on ‘Frozen,’…cause we’ve lived the world for awhile together and a lot of the artists in the studio grew up with that film too, both of them, and have been there the whole way…They kinda own them as much as anyone else.”

A release date for “Frozen” 3 has not been announced yet.

The first 2 Frozen films are available to stream now on Disney+.
