Jerry Bruckheimer Confirms Next ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Film Will Be A Reboot

Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed that the next film in the franchise will be a reboot rather than a sequel.

The news was shared in an interview with ComicBook.com which you can see below:

“It’s hard to tell. You don’t know, you really don’t know. You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”

Over the years, there have been several rumors on whether Johnny Depp would return for a Pirates project as Captain Jack Sparrow, but nothing has ever been confirmed.

Most recently, The Bear star, Ayo Edebiri has been rumored to star in the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie.

According to industry insider Daniel RPK, the new movie would revolve around a group of much younger pirates searching for a new treasure.

Craig Mazin, notable for his work as a co-writer on the acclaimed HBO series “Chernobyl” and “The Last of Us”, had commenced work on a new installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, a project that has already received the green light from Disney.

All five previous Pirates Of The Caribbean films are available to stream now on Disney+.
