Jodie Turner-Smith Rumored as Female Lead For ‘Tron: Ares’

Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim) is rumored to have been cast as the female lead in the third film in the Tron franchise which will be titled “Tron: Ares.”

The news comes from industry insider Daniel RPK who shared the news via his Patreon account.  The scooper also revealed that her character will apparently be named Athena.

As always, since nothing has been confirmed by Disney, we will treat this as a rumor for now.

Jared Leto is attached to star and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil director Joachim Rønning is set to direct the project. Jesse Wigutow wrote the most recent draft of the script. Leto is producing along with Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook.

According to Production List, filming on the project is set to begin on July 3, 2023, and continue through October in Vancouver.

In case you aren’t familiar, TRON is a cult 1982 sci-fi film starring Jeff Bridges about a computer programmer trapped inside a vicious computer game, which also spawned a cult 2010 sci-fi sequel TRON: Legacy and a 2012-2013 cult animated series TRON: Uprising.

A Tron Disney+ series is also in the works, however, TRON: Ares is reportedly further ahead in development.

TronTron: Legacy, and Tron: Uprising are all available to stream now on Disney+.

“Tron: Ares” is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
