Jorge Vargas (Snowpiercer), Tanaya Beatty (Yellowstone), and Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett) have joined the cast of Searchlight Pictures’ upcoming epic sci-fi film “In the Blink of an Eye.”
The three join previously announced cast Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Rashida Jones, and Daveed Diggs (Hamilton).
The project seeks to explore no less than the entire history of the world and tackle the nature of life, love, hope and connection, doing so by focusing on three intersecting storylines. Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia are the watchwords.
Andrew Stanton (Wall-E, Finding Nemo) is set to direct. Jared Ian Goldman (Ingrid Goes West, Russian Doll) is producing.
The original screenplay, which was featured on the 2017 Black List, is written by Colby Day (Spaceman). Day will also act as an exec producer.
Senior vp production Taylor Friedman and creative executive Apolline Berty are overseeing for Searchlight, reporting to heads of production and development Katie Goodson-Thomas and DanTram Nguyen.
Principal photography on the project has begun in British Columbia.
Vargas’ credits include Snowpiercer, Billy the Kid, and Stargate SG-1.
Beatty’s credits include Yellowstone, Crimes of the Future and God’s Country.
Hughes’ credits include Joe Pickett and Paw Patrol. She will next be seen in the lead role in Ordinary Angels opposite Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson.
