Variety recently reported that Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, showrunners of the new Hulu/Star adult animated series “Koala Man,” have signed a new deal with 20th Television Animation and ABC Signature.
The article mentions the duo’s upcoming projects which include Talk Nerdy to Me, a workplace comedy set for CBS from ABC Signature, Disney’s upcoming film featuring the character Figment from Seth Rogen’s Point Grey, and projects with Lucasfilm, and Walt Disney Pictures as well. No further details were provided about which Star Wars project that might be.
Hernandez and Samit’s other credits include Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Addams Family 2, and Disney’s Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion series.
Last week, a new rumor circulated from insider Daniel Richtman via Patreon, who said The Mandalorian producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are in the early stages of developing yet another spin-off series that will be connected to the MandoVerse. The project is currently codenamed “Ghost Track 17.” There are no specific details regarding the contents of the series nor the exact time period in which it will take place.
Bespin Bulletin further points out that Ghost Track 17, is a reference to hidden tracks on musical artists’ albums, and more than likely a reference specifically to the hidden seventeenth track on The Beatles’ album, Abbey Road, named Her Majesty. Given the involvement of Favreau and Filoni, it’s more than likely the Ghost Track series is related to the ‘MandoVerse’ which features The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew.
If the above rumor is true, it’s quite possible this is the mysterious Lucasfilm project Hernandez and Samit are attached to however nothing has been officially announced.
