A new South Korean Disney+ Original series titled “Uncle Samsik” starring Parasite‘s Song Kang-ho is coming to Disney+ and Hulu.
Set in 1960s Korea, a time of great social and political upheaval, “Uncle Samsik” tells the story of a young idealist man who is driven to turn his country’s fortunes around. The man attracts the attention of a shady fixer, who adapts to any situation and takes whatever steps necessary to help him accomplish his boss’ goals.
Song will play the titular character and Byun as Kim San. Byun Yo-han has also joined the cast along with Seo Hyun, Jin Gi-ju, and Lee Kyu-hyeong.
Shin Yeonshick (Cobweb, Cassiopeia) is the writer and director. Slingshot Studios is producing.
A release date for “Uncle Samsik” has not been announced yet, but the 16 part drama will launch globally sometime this year.
