Lewis Pullman In Early Talks To Replace Steven Yeun in Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ Film

Last month, it was reported that Steven Yeun would no longer be starring in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Thunderbolts” film.  The actor had reportedly dropped out due to scheduling conflicts after production was pushed on the film because of the Hollywood Strikes.

Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick) is now Marvel’s top choice to fill Yeun’s shoes and is in early negotiations with the studio, Deadline reports.

Plot details for the “Thunderbolts” film are under wraps however it revolves around a group of villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.

Filming on the project was paused in May due to the WGA strike and has yet to resume production.

Cast previously announced for “Thunderbolts” includes David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, ​​Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S.Agent, Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.

Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.  Harrison Ford is also expected to reprise his role as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from Captain America: New World Order.

Jake Schreier will direct and Beef creator Lee Sung Jin has been recently added as a writer and will take over writing duties for Eric Pearson (Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok) who wrote the first script for the film.  Lee and Schreier previously worked together on Beef which is now streaming on Netflix.  Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing.

Filming on the project is slated to begin in early 2024.  According to The Cosmic Circus, the “Thunderbolts” production company is Cantina Productions LLC. and using the working title Oops All Berries.

“Thunderbolts” is set to release in theaters on July 25, 2025.

Pullman was most recently seen on Apple’s Lessons in Chemistry and also played Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd in Top Gun: Maverick.
