‘Lilo & Stitch’ Live-Action Movie Filming Schedule Reportedly Revealed

Last week,  The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) had joined Disney’s live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch,” saying Galifianakis has closed a deal but his character details are being kept under wraps.

Filming on the project is set to begin very soon.  According to Midgard Times,  “Lilo & Stitch” will begin filming on March 13, 2023, in O’ahu, Hawaii, and will take around three months to officially wrap up on June 16, 2023.

The outlet also reports, “Lilo & Stitch” will directly release on Disney+ in 2024, and won’t be coming out in theaters as reported earlier based on the IMDb listing.

The remake is said to follow the same story as the 2002 animated film which follows the friendship formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and an alien named Stitch.  The original movie was written and directed by Chris Sanders who also provided the voice for Stitch.  It’s being reported that Sanders will return to voice Stitch for the live-action version as well.

Dean Fleischer-Camp, the filmmaker behind Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, will direct the movie on a screenplay written by Mike Van Waes.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback (2019’s Aladdin) are producing the film, with Ryan Halprin serving as an executive producer.
