Love, Victor, the new spinoff series from the 2018 movie Love, Simon, will be moving from Disney+ to the Hulu streaming service.
According to Deadline, production has just wrapped on the 10-episode, half hour series and it will debut in June, which is also LGBTQ Pride month.
Michael Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home) will play Victor in the series, a new student at Creekwood High School who is on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.
Love, Victor depicts alcohol use, parents’ marital issues and sexual exploration which does not fit in with the family-friendly content on Disney+. This is not the first time a series set for Disney+ has moved to Hulu. The High Fidelity series starring Zoe Kravitz was also moved to Hulu before its premiere.
According to insiders of the series, Hulu has already opened a writers’ room to begin brainstorming ideas for a potential second season.
