Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) has joined the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ Original series “The Acolyte.”
“The Acolyte” has been described as a female-driven, action mystery thriller, with martial art elements that will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging Dark Side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era. The series is said to take place in a different part of the Star Wars timeline than other projects.
Amandla Stenberg has been confirmed to star and Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game) will star as the male lead. Additionally, Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Anne Boleyn) will star in the new Star Wars project.
Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is serving as the series showrunner.
The series is expected to begin production in London in late fall.
A Disney+ release date for “The Acolyte” has not been announced yet but it was previously believed to launch sometime in 2023.
Jacinto recently starred as Jason Mendoza in The Good Place. He was most recently seen in Nine Perfect Strangers and Brand New Cherry Flavor and on the big screen in Top Gun: Maverick.
